AEP intends to integrate Adolescence Education issues in to the classroom transaction through life skill approach to deal with real life situations of adolescents. AEP focusses on process of growing up, understanding adolescence, positive and responsible relationships and issues related to gender discrimination, HIV and AIDS, substance and drug abuse. It also provides opportunities to acquire needed skills for organising experiential learning activities. At school level the trained Nodal Teachers conduct school based sensitization sessions with their fellow teachers immediately after a regional level Nodal Teacher Training and these sessions used to be organized in extended teaching hours, ensuring that all the fellow teachers are sensitized within above mentioned time line. The trained Nodal Teachers along with teachers oriented in the school will also organize AEP activities in CCA periods at Vidyalaya level for classes VIII to XI, so that the 23 hours AEP transaction concludes in each academic session.
Adequate, rigorous, inclusive and continuous monitoring and supervision are one of the most important keys to successful implementation of any educational programme. AEP follows a robust monitoring mechanism to ascertain the programme. Monitoring indicators have been developed to assess the AEP implementation in schools.
There are 2 monitoring formats were administered for capturing AEP activities at school level.
School’s AEP Activity Report (SAAR):This is a monthly reporting format, which is to be filled by the Principal of every school and submitted to respective Regional Office of the educational system by the7th of every month. It captures the Background Information and AEP Sessions in Class 8 to Class 11.
Annual School Monitoring Format AEP: This is an annual reporting format which is to be endorsed by the Principal and submitted to respective Regional Office once in each academic year. The indicators of the monitoring formats covers School identification particulars, School particular related to AEP, information on Nodal Teachers, Students enrollment, Facilities available in school, Programme implemented in schools, Activities held in school under AEP themes, Details of AEP implementation with schools teachers during an academic session and Details of classroom based transaction during an academic session.
After administering the formats the data captured was analysed at national level. Based upon the analysis the Schools implementing the AEP programme in the best manner used to be identified. Schools sending the monthly School AEP Activity Report (SAAR) on regular basis and Annual School Monitoring Format AEP will be considered for the best performing 10 schools from each education system used to be recognised for the initiative.
